When a Tour de France winner rolls up for your Saturday morning bunch ride, you know it’s going to be a good one!

Cadel Evans, arguably Australia’s greatest ever cyclist, surprised a group of Geelong men and women on Saturday 29 January when he arrived unannounced for the local 80km spin.

The crew didn’t waste any time introducing themselves and enjoying the opportunity to learn from the best. After tackling the Barrobool Hills and Moria, the bunch enjoyed a mid-ride coffee at Torquay’s famous Salty Dog Cafe.

The ride then followed the coast along Thirteenth Beach and finished up in Cadel’s home town of Barwon Heads, where he caught up with our friends Tina and the Wheel Women riders.
