GEELONG CLASSIC

Fast and furious street racing returned to the Geelong Waterfront in 2024, with the women’s Geelong Classic criterium race kicking off a five-day festival of cycling.

Sofia Bertizzolo (UAE Team ADQ) claimed the honours in the inaugural edition, in a downhill sprint finish ahead of Georgia Baker (LIV AlUla Jayco) and Francesca Barale (Team DSM – Firmenich Post NL).

The criterium racing format in 2024 saw the women race 25 laps of a 2km circuit around the Geelong Botanical Gardens and Waterfront.

The twilight race saw a small climb each lap that made for compelling and aggressive racing, with the circuit offering multiple viewing locations for spectators to enjoy the action.
