The 2023 Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race marked a return of world-class cycling to Victoria after a two-year COVID-19 hiatus.

More than 100,000 spectators and cycling fans watched two thrilling Elite Races, which both saw two first-time UCI WorldTour winners.

In the men’s race, attacks flew from across the peloton up the Challambra climb before German 22-year-old Marius Mayrhofer (Team DSM) outsprinted a class field in a hectic bunch sprint.

In the Deakin University Elite Women’s Race, Zwift world champion Loes Adegeest (FDJ-Suez) edged out Australia’s Amanda Spratt (Trek-Segafredo) in a nail-biting two-rider sprint.
