Registrations are now open for the VEGEMITE Family Ride, a free family-friendly ride held during Australia’s premier cycling event.

Held on the second day of the four-day Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race cycling extravaganza, the VEGEMITE Family Ride will kick off after school at 5:30pm on Friday 31 January, 2020.

The 1.6km flat, safe circuit takes in the Geelong Waterfront and is perfect for young riders of all abilities.

Open to ages three-years-old and up, participants will have the chance to ride alongside Cadel Evans and some of the event’s UCI WorldTour riders and local celebrities.

The course also passes under the official Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race start/finish line gantry – just like the pros.

Cadel Evans AM said the ride was not only for children, but adults too.

“We want to have an event that’s accessible for everyone, and thanks to VEGEMITE we have the free Family Ride returning in 2020. It’s for young champs on balance bikes, training wheels or roadies,” Evans said.

“The more activity we do, especially at a young age, helps create a healthy lifestyle.

“I have two boys, one who is nine-years-old who is a pretty keen rider. The youngest is still a few months away from being on a balance bike, but don’t be surprised if you see him at the Family Ride in 2020.”

The first 500 registered kids to check in on the day will receive a free VEGEMITE t-shirt.

“We can’t wait to see all of the HAPPY LITTLE VEGEMITES riding along the same finishing straight as the pros during the 2020 VEGEMITE Family Ride – it’s a great day for the whole family to get involved,” said Matt Gray, Senior Marketing Manager – VEGEMITE.

Following the ride, participants can enjoy the festival atmosphere at Steampacket Gardens Event Village including family activities, giveaways and food stalls.
