Mercedes-Benz Australia has joined forces with the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race as the event’s official vehicle partner.

The luxury vehicle brand will provide crucial logistical transport for the event across the January 27 to January 28 weekend.

Mercedes-Benz Australia has dedicated a fleet of vehicles – including the Race Director’s red Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan – to all visiting teams and support crews competing in the seventh edition of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race.

Event founder and Australian cycling legend Cadel Evans said the partnership with Mercedes-Benz takes the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race – Australia’s only UCI WorldTour certified one-day classic – to exciting new heights.

“To run a successful WorldTour event, the dependency on vehicles is surprisingly high so we are absolutely delighted Mercedes-Benz Australia has come on board to support us,” he said.

“This puts us in the enviable position to transport our teams while they go about their job preparing for the return of the Great Ocean Road Race.”

Race Director Scott Sunderland, who is looking forward to driving the red Mercedes-Benz C-Class sedan during the UCI WorldTour Elite Men’s and UCI WorldTour Deakin University Elite Women’s Races also stressed the importance of the partnership.

“One of the world’s most iconic brands providing vehicles to Australia’s only UCI WorldTour One-Day Classic both women’s and men’s races is incredibly exciting,” he said.

“Organising major events like the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race has big demands, and it’s incredibly reassuring having a brand like Mercedes-Benz in your corner.”

Known as an industry leader in engineering, technology, safety and luxury, Mercedes-Benz is a long-time supporter of sport at both grassroots and elite levels. This approach is led by its customers, who embrace active lifestyles as part of their overall wellbeing.

The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race aligns perfectly with the brand’s passion for performance and a desire to support events promoting fitness and healthy outcomes.

Mercedes-Benz’s motto – “the best of nothing” – aligns the world-first technologies in its vehicles with aesthetically pleasing design.
