A pioneer of women’s sport in Australia, Daisy Pearce has confirmed she’ll be taking part in the 2024 TAC People’s Ride alongside Cadel Evans and thousands of eager cyclists this summer.

The AFLW Premiership captain and three-time All-Australian was a star in the AFLW, inspiring women and young girls across the country to take up football.

Despite hanging up her boots in 2022, Pearce has become one of the most significant voices in football as a respected commentator and now resides in Geelong as part of the coaching and development team at the Geelong Cats.

A keen cyclist and a proud mother to twins – Sylvie and Roy – Daisy is thrilled to be joining the ride on her local roads and has put the call-out for women and girls across Victoria to join her on the bike.

Setting her sights on the 113km course which includes the famed Challambra climb, Pearce can’t wait to challenge herself and pedal the same roads as the professionals as part of a jam-packed weekend of cycling.

“Cycling is something I have always enjoyed and really gotten into recently! Plus my kids are obsessed so I’m thrilled to be the 2024 TAC People’s Ride ambassador,” Pearce said.

“I want to see more women and girls getting out on their bikes and finding ways to keep active. The TAC People’s Ride is the perfect way to set a new training goal, socialise with your friends and stay safe on the roads.

“It’s wonderful to see the region transform as the world’s best descend on our roads, I can’t wait to join thousands of others and ride alongside Cadel Evans!”

Transport Accident Commission CEO Tracey Slatter is looking forward to welcoming attendees to the event.

“The People’s Ride is an important opportunity for the TAC to engage with the cycling community and talk about how all road users can work together to keep our roads safe.”

“We are thrilled to have Daisy Pearce as the Ambassador for the TAC People’s Ride and we look forward to promoting road safety throughout an exciting weekend of festivities.”

The Transport Accident Commission has been a major partner of the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race since its inception in 2015. As the official partner of the People’s Ride, the TAC helps to deliver important road safety messages to a larger audience.

ROAD SAFETY IS A SHARED RESPONSIBILITY BETWEEN CYCLISTS AND MOTORISTS

With a selection of 59km and 113km distances; the TAC People’s Ride provides the chance for riders of all abilities to find their greatness and ride on the same roads as the pros.

The Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race is delivered with support from the Victorian Government through Visit Vicotria.
