Towards Zero Race Melbourne

In 2019, families and riders of all ages will once again experience the buzz of cycling the official Towards Zero Race Melbourne course before the Elite Women’s and Men’s criterium on Thursday 24 January.

Enjoy the flat 5.3km circuit with closed roads, pass under the official start/finish gantry and be cheered on by the crowds.

Bike storage is available within the Village so you can easily stay on to watch the pros while enjoying great food, drinks and entertainment.

On the day

For Ride4All participants, we invite you to make your way to the start/finish line on Aughtie Drive (Pit Straight) prior to 15:00.

Here are key timings to take note of:

14:45-15:00Arrive at the start/finish village, located on Aughtie Drive (Pit Straight)
15:00Rider welcome and briefing
15:00-15:50Enjoy riding on the closed circuit course and complete as many laps as you feel comfortable doing
15:50-16:00Finish lap that you are riding and clearing of the course
16:10Start of the Elite Women’s Criterium
18:20Start of the Elite Men’s Criterium

Key points to note:

  • Please ensure you carry photo ID with you at all times
  • Helmets must be worn at all times
  • Slower riders should keep to the left, the circuit width allows for plenty of room for passing
  • Avoid sudden turns and where possible ensure you and those with you ride in a straight line to assist those passing
  • Make sure you communicate with other riders when passing, both verbally and with hand signals
  • Please bring water with you for the ride
  • Whilst the circuit is closed to traffic, some event and team vehicles will be on the circuit
  • The event village on the day features food trucks, a beer garden, live music and roving entertainment
  • Enjoy riding on this iconic circuit!
